Elena Byrne is the founder of Ellevations, a building design studio she established in 2006. Based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Ellevations has proudly supported fellow building designers, businesses and countless families in bringing their projects to life. In 2025, her work received a Commendation at the National Building Designers Association Awards – a proud milestone in her professional journey.
Elena’s design philosophy is grounded in quality, care and genuine respect – for her clients, their homes, and the environment. With qualifications including a Diploma in Architectural Technology, a Certificate in Interior Design and a Bachelor of Economics, she brings both creative and analytical expertise to every project. Elena is a Full Member of the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA).
A natural adventurer at heart, Elena has always been drawn to exploring the world and embracing the unfamiliar. From quad biking across the sand dunes of Abu Dhabi and trekking the Inca Trail in Peru, to abseiling in New Zealand and white water rafting in Indonesia, she has travelled to more than 50 countries – and counting. Most recently, she walked the Camino Frances, a journey that brought reflection, connection and a renewed sense of purpose.
When she is not designing or exploring new landscapes, Elena is immersed in the world of live music. With entertainer Peter Byrne as her husband, music is ever present – fueling her imagination and shaping her design philosophy. She believes great design, like great music, has rhythm, harmony and the power to move people. Always curious, Elena loves stepping outside her comfort zone – like taking to the skies in a jet fighter and briefly taking the controls, just to ‘see what the future could hold’.
